There’s no doubt about it.  Pitchers that have mastered control of every pitch dominate!

Mastering control takes years of practice.

So what can you do starting today to ensure you begin the process of gaining pin-point control?

There are several things you can do to get the ball rollin:

First and foremost is learning proper mechanics.

Every motion you make up to release of the ball is so important.  And every movement effects how you release the ball.

Our advice: never stop perfecting your pitching mechanics.

Another pitching tip on developing great control is throwing with a purpose.

We have talked about this several times when we relate it to mechanics.  But what about throwing to a smaller target every single time you throw the ball?

Growing up I was taught to throw to a dime sized target no matter what or who I was throwing to.

When I warm up with someone I always pick a dime-sized target on their shirt and throw to it.

Think of it like target practice.

When you shoot a gun, if you want to get better, you pick the smallest target possible to shoot at.  The smaller it is the better marksman you become.

When you pitch you want to have precision control.  This is an excellent way to practice.  Remember, don’t waste a throw.  Make every throw count and you will be surprised how much better you will become.

To learn more about mastering your pitching mechanics, mental game and more we highly recommend our instructional pitching DVD series that is on sale today!
