Many pitchers have taken and still are taking a well deserved break from throwing off the mound. However, if you want to excel as a pitcher there are several things you don’t ever want to take a break from. Nutrition: You cannot be the athlete you want to be if you ignore what you are feeding the machine. Eat healthy all year round; you won’t regret it! Pitching Workouts: light dumbbell work, anaerobic and aerobic activities, elastic band work should be part of your daily routines to ensure you are always fit to pitch. Study: Be an avid student of the game! Learn every aspect of the game, including the mental game; this will give you an advantage over your competition. Goal Setting: Yes, there are those that only write down their goals once or twice a year. Make it a habit to write your goals down and review them at least twice a week. This will keep your mind fresh. You will be constantly improving and pushing yourself to success. Daily Task List: When you know what your goals are you want to get after it. Making a daily to do list of what needs to get done will help you stay on task and help you reach your most difficult goals. It’s consistency over long periods of time that brings success.
