Major League Pitching Grips
November 21, 2010Does a 12-6 Curveball Exist?
December 3, 2010If you have your fastball mechanics down and have a great change up working for you in games, it’s now time to learn how to throw a curveball. Here I demonstrate what to do and what not to do when throwing a curve.
1) you should not throw a curveball if you don’t first have proper pitching mechanics.
2) You don’t need to worry about throwing a 12-6 curveball; they really don’t exist for those that don’t have a 90 degree arm slot. Most pitchers have three-quarter arm slot.
3) Most pitching coaches in high school don’t teach you how to throw a curveball correctly.
4) No need to twist the ball to get rotation. This not only hurts your arm, you will struggle with an on and off again curveball.
